
The United States Department of Transportation requires that any employee who packages, handles, or transports hazardous materials, including propane receive training under Federal DOT regulation 49 CFR 172.702 within the first 90 days of employment, whenever a new hazard is introduced into the workplace or when the employee’s job function changes.
This law also stipulates the DOT HM 126F training be conducted for all employees who perform hazardous material tasks every three years.
This mandatory training program is required, but not limited to; Bobtail Drivers, Plant Managers, Dispatchers, Supervisors, Dock Workers, and Office Staff doing paperwork that deals with hazardous materials. The course is 4 hours in duration and eligible for 4 CEU’s.
